More recently, FCE began venturing into more intricately involved concrete projects such as:
The upgrade of MR458
A dual carriageway (road over road and rail) bridge. Each carriage way is supported by two abutments with three sets of cantilevered piers and three decks. The bridge will provide the essential link to Tongaat Hulletts Developments (THD) new industrial development called Cornubia.
Blackburn Reservoir
A square (50mx50m) structure with a capacity of 17, 5 million litres complete with inlet chambers, pipelines and PRV Building. Currently the project is still in its infancy with the first line of wall bases being cast along the northern face and the first corner panel has also now been cast.
M41 Upgrade
The existing bridge is to be expanded to accommodate two lanes of traffic in both directions. The new bridge is a cast-in-situ (using void formers) post-tensioned structure resting upon two abutments and a central pier. The bridge will provide access to THD’s new Retail Park Development including Makro, MMI Group, Virgin active and Investec to name a few.
